Happy St. Valentine's Day from Princess

A bonus Princess Makes It!

She designed and made this herself for a new feature she'd like to do called Princess Makes It Monthly.  Right now, it's set to be a crochet-along to make an afghan.  Each month, she will be presenting a themed crochet block, and in honor of St. Valentine's Day, here is the first one.

With red worsted weight yarn and a J hook, start with ch 37.  Sc in second ch from hook, and each ch across (36 stitches).
Row 2 (and all even rows):  Ch 3, turn.  Dc across.
Row 3 (and all odd rows):  Ch 1, turn.  Sc across.
Repeat rows, til end of row 32.  Fasten off.  Finished square should be approximately 12" square.

She used 29 buttons, to represent the 29 days of February this year.  These should be stitched on securely with thread or embroidery floss.  This block is not appropriate for use on an afghan for children under the age of 4, due to choking hazzard.
